For those of you who don't know who these two Grammy nominees are you can watch there live performance at SXSW
On paper it all sounded like an amazing night until I got to the party around 9.30pm to realize the venue reached capacity less than half an hour after letting people in (9pm).
I camped there thinking we might get in but after seeing the doorman giving Switch and Amanda Blank a hard time I decided to head to another bar down the street.
Around 11.40pm, on my way back to my $20 parking spot (#@ck West L.A parking) I noticed no line in front of Bar Marmont so I went in. The venue is cozy and has a butterflied ceiling. I walked through the crowded dancefloor towards the DJ and to my good surprise Diplo was busting some fresh Jamaican music. He played an old Busta Rhymes beat, plus a couple instrumentals from the WU. Then, all the sudden Amanda Blank
grabbed a mic -I can say that she was on top of her game even drunk- to be joined a couple minutes later by indie rapper SpankRock from Philly
and Santigold
formerly Santogold. It was a really good show.
